The Museum of the Cherokee Indian has just installed a completely new exhibit that combines computer generated imagery,
special effects,and audio with an extensive artifact collection. This $3.5 million dollar project tells the story
of the Cherokee and their ancestors from twelve thousand years ago through the present. Learn who the Cherokee are

The Museum of the Cherokee Indian opened in 1948 and moved to its present facility in 1976. Its exhibit was totally
renovated in 1998, when a new 12,000 square foot exhibit was installed.
From the west (Knoxville), if traveling on Interstate 40, take I-40 east to exit 20 (Maggie Valley exit) and travel
five miles to the traffic light. Turn right on Hwy. 19 and travel through Maggie Valley and across Soco Mountain
app. 25 miles to the town of Cherokee.Continue to the intersection of Hwy. 19 and Hwy. 441 north and turn right
on Hwy. 441 north. Proceed .6 mile to the next traffic light(intersection of Hwy. 441 & Tsali Boulevard).
