Housed in a log fort south of the Bow River, just across the bridge from downtown Banff, this museum is devoted to the history of the First Nations peoples of the Canadian Rockies and Northern Plains. It offers realistic dioramas, tepees, a sun-dance exhibit, artifacts, and ornaments.
This Banff museum celebrates the history and culture of the Plains Indians. Wander through the gallery and learn about their life, their contact with Europeans and their spirituality. This beautiful museum--located on a river--features displays of Native Canadian beadwork and clothing, quillwork, weapons and hunting implements, musical instruments and photographs. The life-size displays of daily life and special ceremonies are especially interesting.
